"Yeah, I know her." he said. He might as well go see her now, he had a bit. He went into the turbolift and took it to the main engineering deck, where he knew she would probably be. He found her easy enough. "Commander, I hear you have some blueprints to show me."

"Oh, yes sir. I'm glad you came down." She went over to her terminal and pushed some buttons until her screen showed the blueprints of a small weapon that attached to the phaser banks. "See, I figure this little gizmo will enhance the power of our phasers by over 60 percent. It will also shield the phaser bank itself during battles." She continued on, explaining the details of the machine, her Bajoran earring jingling as she glanced from the Nausicaan beside her and about 2 feet above her. "So what do you say?" She asked, her brown eyes narrowed with intensity.

"I say it's a really good idea. Nice work. Get it built and installed and I'll test it out." he examined the blueprints again. "Although, if you mount it here," he motioned a bit further along the phaser bank, "and you equip it with a shield coupler, you'll have more sheld power a long the phaser bank and this secion of the front of the ship. Just an idea though."

"That's a great idea!" She exclaimed, pushing buttons her terminal. The second frame, which showed the mounting location, moved the enhancer gizmo to the new location. She inputted the new numbers, and it showed an 80 percent increase in effectiveness. "I'll be in the Holodeck testing it out." She stated to the people in engineering, taking her datapad pertaining to the new system with her.

Goldring nodded to her. He sauntered from the engineering room, deciding to take the turbolift back to the bridge, he could do more there until the ship arrived at the station. He walked into the bridge, taking his place at his post. He did some impulsive scans of the weapons systems again. He knew he didn't need to, but he was the kind of guy that hated taking any chances that something would go wrong.

For the most part, the Bridge remained rather quiet, the crew doing their jobs. For a while the two ensign helmsman were discussing their trips to Risa and a very beautiful server girl they had seen. Risa was the vacation planet; a very sophisticated weather grid was surrounding the planet (Like the one around earth, only better) that made sure the weather was always perfect. In this manner, the whole planet was quite nearly a holoplanet. Everyone vacationed there at some point in time or other if they were of the vacationing species or simply couldn't handle the warm, sunny weather. The Lt. Commander at the helm finally spoke up, silencing the ensigns. "Sir, we're approaching the station. Dropping out of warp in 3 minutes and will approach on impulse engines." "Very good." Said the First Officer, tapping his combadge lightly, "Captain, we're approaching now." Then he tapped it off. A moment later Captain Troi came out from her ready room. "Captain on the Bridge!" He said, going to stand up. "As you were, everyone." She stood near Goldring's station, glancing at his terminal before sitting down in her chair. "Systems report, Mr. Goldring." She said, her voice sounding tired. She hadn't been sleeping well as of late, and it was beginning to wear on her.

Goldring was already standing when the Captain entered, but stood straighter and stiffer. "All systems check out, Captain." He said with the voice of someone who knew what they were doing. Other than that, he continued on his scans and on a small screen opened the systems configurations for the shields. The engineering commander had piqued his inventive side.

"Very good, commander." Troi said lightly, placing her hand on Berk's head. "When we drop out of warp, scan the sector for other ships before we head down to the station." A moment later, the ensign at the helm piped up, "Dropping out of warp...Now." He pulled back on a small lever, and the ship obligingly slowed down, the stars returning to their normal pinpricks of light rather than the elongated light. A large station sat in the viewscreen, looking abandoned. No ships were docked at the pylons and the internal lights appeared to be off. The young woman working the terminal beside Goldring immediately began her scans of the station. "I'm picking up 27 lifeforms aboard the Station. Weapons systems are offline. Shields are offline. Main power is minimal. Life support failing on most decks." "Which decks, Lieutenant?" Troi asked, glancing up at the woman. "All decks are without life support except for...21 and 22." She responded, brown eyes intense as she read through her screen.

Goldring looked out the view and did his own scans. “Systems seem to have been destroyed from the inside. No enemy ships within range, but there’s nothing to say that they didn’t leave anybody down there.” He said. “Sir, we should get down there and help them out.” Goldring said.

Troi steepled her fingers, staring at the viewscreen as she let the information roam through her head. "Sir?" Commander Voss asked her, looking concerned. "Report to the transporter room suited up in Environ suits." Troi said a few moments later to the members of her away-mission crew. "You have the bridge, Commander." She said as she stood, looking at her first officer for a moment. Voss nodded, "Be careful." Troi walked to one of the two transporters on the bridge. One of the science officers (A lady with very faint Klingon ridges in blue and two solid pips on her collar marking her as a Lieutenant) joined Troi in the turbolift along with one of the ensign helmsmen. The door slid closed as the second door opened, waiting for the rest of them. Troi stepped out of the turbolift, walked down the hallway, then took the second turbolift up to the transporter room. Ensign Duran was already handing out Environ suits to the other crew members already present, two of which from the medical bay. One was a Lieutenant, the other a Lt. Junior Grade. Both were in blue uniforms. Chief Engineer Hill in a yellow uniform stood ready with two ensigns beside her, all three in their Environ suits. Troi was one of two in red- a Lieutenant from another section of the ship was accompanying her on the away mission to train so as to have a ship of his own one day. Besides, another commanding officer with a phaser couldn't hurt. Troi suited up quickly and took a spot on the transporter pad, as did the other senior officers for this away mission. One spot was left for Goldring, who, as a senior officer, would be going down in the first group.

Goldring followed Captain Troi, suiting up in the transporter room. Phaser in place, he stepped onto the transporter pad. His other two men waited in the room, they would go down with the second group. "Ready. Beam us down." he said.

The Ensign Duran nodded his head once, "Beaming down." He stated simply, pushing the sliding buttons down on his panel. The crew was surrounded in blue light, and slowly the transporter room disappeared to be replaced with a darker setting- the bridge of the station. "Lieutenant Kur'Jah, give me a readout." Troi said, pulling out her own scanner. "Lt. Commander Goldring, take your men- and woman- and secure the exits. Once you are sure the bridge is secure, proceed out into the connecting hallways and start checking out the other rooms. Stay on this level for now." Troi leaned over a panel while the second team beamed down. A third security officer had joined the two men- a young female ensign that was a Betazoid- gazed up at Goldring with young, bright eyes. "Hello sir. I came aboard at the last stop. This is my first time serving aboard a starship. I-I just graduated from Starfleet Academy." Troi glanced over at the young ensign, then up at Goldring, her face and eyes saying, "Take care of her. I chose her specially to serve on my ship." Without any words before returning to the panel. One of the yellow engineer men was working on trying to get life support up and running at another terminal. "Oh, my apologies, sir. I'm Ensign Mary Harju." The new security officer continued, rolling onto her toes for a moment, then rolling back onto the balls of her heels. "I was top in my class." She added, almost babblingly, her voice sounding funny through the Environ suit.

"Yes, sir." Goldring looked down at the Ensign. "Well, Ensign Harju, one moment. You two, take that side." He pointed to the security officers, then to a door on one side of the bridge. "Come with me." He said to Mary. He went to the other entrance. He slid the door open, looking into the hallway beyond. It was dark, but his lights showed plenty down. He waited, holding his phaser ready. Everything was still beyond. "All clear." Goldring said. "All clear." the other pair said. Goldring advanced into the hallway, pausing at each door as he passed, checking inside. He opened the third door, scanning over it, and was about to ave on until he did a double take, seeing a figure huddled in a corner of the dark room. Goldring paused, looking the room over again, making sure he wasn't walking into an ambush. He motioned for Mary to follow him, and he walked slowly to the huddled figure, wary of what was around him. When he reached the figure, he saw that it was a girl, maybe twenty five years old. She was pale, but her breathing was shallow, almost nonexistent. He picked her up after holstering his phaser. He walked quickly to the hallway, looking both ways. Seeing nothing, he ran to the bridge. "Captain!" he yelled as he set the girl down.

Mary followed Goldring cautiously, her phaser held in her hands, the setting at 'Stun'. At the sight of the injured woman, she drew in her breath sharply, jogging at Goldring's heels back to the bridge of the station. Troi turned away from her panel, brows knitted together at what Goldring was calling her for. "Doctor." Troi said to the Lieutenant in blue as she crouched beside the woman. "She has some serious burns. Possibly phaser in origin." The Lieutenant said, pressing his fingers to the side of her neck. "Alive, but barely. I'll wake her up and see if she can give us any information. From there, I'll probably have to take her back to the ship for medical attention." He continued, pulling out a hypospray and injecting a stimulant into her. "Ma'am? Can you hear me? What happened?" he asked her as her eyelids began to flutter.
