The tigress awoke. She realized she had been making noises. She sometimes did that when she got distressed. She felt rested but wished she could sleep more, she always, always did. She cleaned off a tear then realized Demon was awake. She thought he would still be asleep. Realization hit her, she had woken him up. She could see he was concerned for her. Her first thoughts were to attack or just get up and leave. She was feeling so angry at him! No. She was angry with herself. She rationally knew that. She reminded herself that his was Demon, not some tiger she had seduced to save her life. He wasn't confronting her. She began to clean her paws as she always did when controlling emotions. "I'm sorry if I woke you Demon. It's my time with the living again. I can wait if you are still tired." She didn't feel like talking about it. Not now. She was thankful that he was concerned enough to wait and see if she wanted to talk but respectful enough to let her not speak if she didn't want to. When she had calmed down enough she stopped cleaning and stretched out in a very leisurely manner then sat waiting for morning to arrive.

Demon blinked slowly, then shrugged. "Apology accepted. And we can go out now. The sun is already rising and goodness knows I don't need to sleep all day." He chuffed out a laugh, the stood and stretched as well, his thoughts on Lily and her strange behaviour. She was a weird cat. Dismissing the thought- he was weird too, anyway- he drifted out of the cave and slid into the water outside his cave, floating lazily as the cool water lapped his sides. He wasn't in the deepest part, but where he was his paws barely touched the ground.

Lily still felt a little upset but she wold get over it. She followed the lion out of the cave and watched him sink into the water. She didn't feel like water at the moment, too depressed. She would force a good mood though. she lounged around. She was really in a hurry to kill something today.

Demon flicked an ear behind him at Lily. He could sense the sadness on her. Turning and walking back onto the land, he shook himself and gazed at her critically. "Don't look so down. Life is life and it will be lived as it wants to be lived." He flicked his tail and walked off into the forest. "A leopard just had her cubs a few days ago. I like to check in on her. Care to join me?" He called over his shoulder, not bothering to wait for her. She could catch up easily.

Life is life and it will be lived as it wants to be lived. She didn't understand what that meant but she knew it was meant to cheer her up or something. She really wasn't in the mood to see a happy leopard mother. Why did she get to keep her cubs when she could not? It got to hard to be upset anymore after that thought. It just brought up the worst of the worst of her memories. The ones that she tried to forget forever and ever. All she could do was feel jaded and apathetic. She felt slightly more inclined to go with the lion than to stay behind by herself though so she cuaght up to Demon to follow him to wherever he wanted to go.

Demon flicked an ear backwards as Lily followed him, but shrugged. Hopefully she'd get out of this dark mood soon. He came to a tree hollow and stuck his head in. "Hey Tori! You in?" "Yes. Hi Demon!" A young voice came out, soon followed by a tiny leopard with blue eyes. She was blind and a runt, but she was surviving. She sniffed the air, then turned her head towards Lily. "Who's your friend?" She asked softly. "This is Lily, a tigress. She is a good friend of mine despite her rather down mood." He chuckled, flicking his tail lazily. Tori laughed with him, a whispery sound. "Well, i was just about to go hunting. Would you mind keeping an eye on the cubs? They are feeling pretty rambunctious today." "I'd be happy to, Tori! Go get yourself some breakfast." The leopard grinned at Demon, then ran off confidently into the forest. Three little leopard cubs, eyes barely opened, poked out of the cave and looked around. They opened their mouths, but their vocal chords hadn't developed yet, so they remained silent. "Hey little guys!" Demon purred, laying down and letting the tiny cubs come out of the hollow to nestle in his fur. Demon glanced up at Lily, "See, Yuri, they haven't developed their genders yet, so they aren't named. But Tori is doing a great job with them. Now. Will you please tell me what is bothering you so? The air is turning black around you."

Lily watched the blind, runt, leopard and envied her. She had three beautiful cubs all to herself. The tigress held in a action she rarely ever did. She wanted to cry. The tigress would trade her size, sight, ears, and her tail just to be able to have cubs, cubs that could live a good life that is. She refused to look at the cubs, she couldn't bear the sight. She stiffly sat, trying to ignore them but then Demon brought attention to them. One tear escaped her and she turned her head quickly away so Demon wouldn't notice. She began to clean her paw again, at this rate she would clean them till they fell off. "I. I'm sorry." She rarely ever apologized for anything yet here she was, apologizing to Demon for the second time. "I. When I dream, it's not really dreaming. It's like I am visiting the spirit of Streak. And well. The time varies each visit and this one was short and every time it makes me sad but. Then the cubs. I just." She sighed, trying to reign in her emotion and better collect her thoughts. "I really envy her, Demon."

Demon listened to her words quietly, eyes back on the little cubs. He could put all three on one paw. "There are always more chances, you know. Another mate you come to love will happen along. More cubs will be born. And you will take such good care of them they will constantly cry out, 'Moooom! I'm four years old! You don't have to bathe me anymore!'." Demon grinned gently, rolling onto his back. "You are a strong tigress. Don't let something like the past defeat you. You already suffered it once. Don't keep reliving it. Talk to Streak in your sleep, but don't let him hold you back from living life. Tori was raped. But she still loves these cubs, even though she can't see them. Could you imagine never being able to see your children? Having them alone, all by yourself in a tree hollow, then not being able to see their faces?" Demon looked back down at the cubs. "Live in the present, Yuri, not in the past."

The tigress' muscles relaxed at Demon's words and even allowed herself to chuckle at his immitation of her future cubs. He was right. She was always wrong, always letting her emotions hurt her. Demon said the same thing as Streak did. She needed to get over what she did and what occured in her past. she felt a pain in her hear as Demon brought the points of Tori's problems and she felt selfish. She looked at the cubs again. She wanted cubs badly. She wasn't entirely at a good mood yet but was feeling better. She wasn't sure she would find one that might want to have cubs, or possibly could have cubs, with her. She was very large and she still didn't think herself as a desirable mate.

Demon smiled over at her, feeling the tension around Lily dissipating. A sound in the trees made him sit up and look around. Slowly Tori came into view, dragging a javelina baby with her. Demon promptly got out of her way as she dragged it into her hollow. "Thanks Demon and Lily for watching the kids. I appreciate it." Demon nuzzled her head, "Take care Tori. remember I am always here at night if you ever need anything." "Thanks!" Tori herded her cubs back into the den and disappeared inside. "She's such a sweet thing." Demon said, then turned away. "Now where?"

The tigress had no clue where to go to next. She was always willing for a fight but she was sure he knew that by now. She was still a little lost in thought but not all of them were sad thoughts. "I'm not sure. I'm willing to do whatever you want even if that means nothing at all." She still had her thoughts on the cubs and her wishing she could be a true mother.

As they walked, Demon began to randomly scratch at trees and mark his territory, reinforcing his boundary lines. "I say we wander idly and wait for trouble to come to us. Trouble tends to sniff me out a lot." He continued walking until the trees began to thin and soon they were back on the Savannah. Demon suddenly laughed, a deep growling sound. "Sorry I am so boring. I never realized how little I do each day. Hahaha."

Lily followed Demon. Trouble sniffed him out? She wished trouble would find her, she always had to search for trouble and searching was no fun. Sometimes she would go months without having anything to do but follow a thin trail of evil, sometimes never finding the source. She would have to stick more closely to the lion if he brought trouble of his own. She chuckled along with Demon becuase her life was generally the same except for her another big part was wallowing in self pity and self hatred. She realized this only becuase Demon had pointed it out to her and now she was ashamed of herself slightly. She wasn't going to let it bring her down anymore. She had better things to look forward to.

True to Demon's words, a roar on the distance and a shriek of pain and fear made Demon push his ears forward. "See what I mean? Trouble. I just hope it isn't a super lion. I'm feeling lazy." He loped in the general direction, and when he picked up a trail, he burst ahead until he could clearly see three large, but not super, lions chasing a thin, little female. Having flashbacks to Nilo, Demon let out a powerful roar, making the ground vibrate under their paws. "Leave her be!" He shouted, storming forward. Green flickered into the brute's eyes- he was ready for a fight. The female collapsed once she found the males had a new target, her breathing so fast it was borderline hyperventilating. "We are going to kill you." Demon said softly, indicating the tigress near him.

The tigress heard the cries of trouble and her heart skipped a beat with joy, not that she was happy that some feline was being treated in bad ways, but that she finaly could get her teeth around some neck. Lily, of course, was dissapionted that there were only three, very normal, lions. She revelled in Demon's roar getting herself ready for battle. She wanted to follow Demon into this one, if just to show him that she did have at least some self control. She gave he female a quick glance, anylizing her condition then prepared herself in full, to be a raging ball of striped destruction.
