Shie wandered through the vast green forest. She would never admit it but she was very lost. She was just walking, looking for prey, she made it to a beach, turned arounhd at a desert, she even saw some mountains. where were the houses? The buildings so large she could not see the top. What was she thinking just wandering off like a fool? Now she was in a very large... park with no humans, no paths no large effigys made of stone. She heard and felt her stomach complain. No people to beg for food from, although on the flip side no toms trying to bully her, steal her food and knock her around. She flopped down next to a tree. "Foooooooood" She moaned to herself.

Sniffing the air, the warrior fae's lip curled at the scent of a kittypet, revealing long and still-white fangs while her green and brown eyes narrowed. She had a brown pelt with stripes of white and light grey that frosted the tips of her brown base fur, giving her her name- Morningdew. As a kit her mother had called her Dewkit, and during her apprenticeship to be a warrior she had been named Dewpaw. At 2 years of age now, Morningdew had earned her warrior name many moons ago, proudly carrying the name as one of the best worriors in her clan- the Wind Clan. She was on patrol now, wandering close to the human boundary when she smelt the cat with human smells. Climbing silently up a tree and moving swiftly along the branches, Morningdew finally caught sight of the female far below. The Warrior code said to chase out all kittypets from their territory, but Morningdew had one thing that set her apart from the other apprentices in her class- Mercy. Tallstar, the leader of their clan, had admired this quality in her and had even encouraged her to use it to the despise of the other warriors. They had yowled and argued that mercy on a kittypet could lead to a whole flock of them coming into the forest and scaring away prey, but Tallstar had dismissed their arguments. Morningdew slid silently down the tree and landed with the softest of thuds on the ground behind the kittypet. "What brings you here?" She asked softly, voice low, but nonthreatening. Morningdew was a tall queen and very large, like a typical wildcat. Her fangs were sharp and everything about her said that she was dangerous and fast if provoked.

shie sat up, nonchalantly looking the newcomer over. Unsure of the intentions of this one who smelt only of the land around her, shie decided not to run. "I bring me here." The streetcat said, trying to avoid lying. If there was one thing she learned on the street early, it was that lying generally made things worse. Of course she learned shortly after that sometimes lying stopped you from gettinghurt so it was usually hard to tell when to lie or when not to.
((I'm not good at writing intros and stuff as you know, so I guess all that I missed so far this time was what she looked like. She is one of those grey pattern cats... I will try and get a picture, with black down the spine and white paws.))

Morningdew pushed her ears forward, tail twitching slightly, "The forest isn't safe for kittypets. Most of my clan mates wouldn't hesitate to attack you. You're lucky I found you first rather than one of them." The queen relaxed back on her haunches with a yawn- she had intended to catch a meal on her return trip to the den, but that could wait. "I'm Morningpaw, by the way. Warrior from the Wind Clan. That's the territory your in now."

Strongjaw slunk low in the bushes, hiding from any others who happened to trundle along the path. It was hard for him, as a runt wolf with a broken paw. His limp made his movements louder, he cursed the wolves that had done this. He stopped when he heard conversation, and his ears perked. Maybe they were friendly. Maybe they weren't. He was injured, tired, and hungry, so he felt that it was a risk that he was willing to take. When he saw the pair, though, he was surprised to see cats. Cats? He hadn't expected cats. Maybe cougars, but cats? "My apologies, I-please, I'm injured." He said frantically. There were two cats, neither looked like thay had broken paws. They could kill him if they wished.

"Kittypet?" Shie was baffled by this word, she had never heard them used together before. Occasionally a small human would point and call her a kitty and she heard of cats that humans took care of that were called pets but togtether? "I am no pet... I am a street cat. I... I got lost... And then I walked... And walked and walked and now I am here and I am starving And I don't know how to get back." She blurted unintentionally. Silently berating herself she sat there. "I... Uh... I'm Shie," Then the runt wolf walked in. She saw dog. Injured dog. Arching her spine and puffing out her fur every which way she hissed violently.

"My apologies. Kittypet is one that does not live in the forest. But...I do not understand your own choice of words. 'Street cat'? What is a 'street'? Makes me think too much of the Thunder path, and I don't see why any cat would want to live on that. "Well, Shie, it is a pleasure to meet you. And I may be able to help you find your way home as well as get food. Though I still don't reccomend life on a Thunder path if that is what a 'street' is."
As Strongjaw entered, Morningdew's reaction was identical to Shie's. She had heard the approach of an animal, but most wouldn't have bothered approaching the cats unless they wanted to eat them. But it took only seconds for Morningdew to evaluate the situation and see that this wolf was no threat. Flattening her fur back down but keeping her ears pinned, the feral cat examined the wolf more closely. "You are injured." She stated the obvious, "You should be with your pack where they can care for you until you heal. A broken paw means death if you're alone, wolf, and you should know that." Her voice was angry or irritated, but rather just..stating the obvious, again.

On the streets dogs were a danger to cats but Shie had learned that if you stood your ground and acted threatening, most smarter dogs or smaller would leave her alone. Then there was the stupid or really big dogs. Shie learned quickly that you fought the stupid ones and they wouldn't again but the big ones would kill you. She had been in the occasional fight, they always left her near death. This dog was injured though, Shie knew that, if it wasn't stupid, she would be able to frighten it away. If it decided to pick a fight though, she would be done for. She didn't drop the tough act, though calmed it down a bit. Morningdew seemed quite sure that they would be fine. Ignoring the dog, no, wolf, she said what was on her mind "Thunderpath... That does sound like the street, it is very noisy... Can you show me where it is? I don't know anything about this park. At least in the city I know that I have to go behind the place with the yellow curves. There is always food there when the sick humans aren't eating it."

The wolf became irritated. "I damn well know that a broken paw means death. And I would love to go back to my pack if they weren't all dead, so thank you for stating the obvious. Now, I shall leave and die, or you could attempt to help me."

Morningdew stood and stretched, mouth opening wide in a yawn. "My my, so many needy animals this day." Her tail stood straight up and the tip twitched from side to side, "I cannot take either of you back to the den. That would be too dangerous for the kits. And the night grows thin, so approaching two leg territory would be foolish right now. The Thunderpath will be waking up and becoming more active with beasts." Morningdew's ear flicked backwards, then she turned with a growl, "Brownpaw, you are still far too noisy. For shame, apprentice. I thought I taught you better." A small male kitten of about 10 weeks of age bumbled noisily out of a bush, his pelt a solid brown like his name suggested. "Sorry Morningdew." He mewed, trying to be quieter. "Whatcha doin'?" He asked, staring at the wolf. "You left me on my task, and you never came back..." He mewed again. "Hush. That is none of your business. How'd you like to go to Fourtrees today?" Without waiting for a response, she addressed the other two, "A safe place for you to be is at the Fourtree clan site. That's where all four cat clans come together once a month for a meeting. We are only in a strip of trees here, making hunting for the pair of you far more difficult. Mine and Brownpaw's clan lives on a plateau with harsh winds blowing through. If we stick to Riverclan's border, we can avoid the strongest winds and reach Fourtrees by evening, granted you can move at a relatively good pace on that broken paw. What say you? Brownpaw can practice his hare hunting by trying to catch you a meal as we travel." Morningdew meowed, licking her paw while standing. Brownpaw made a face at the suggestion of hunting practice. He wanted to play, not work.

Shie didn't like being called needy. All she wanted was to get back to where she came from. Shie was not suprised at the other's entrance, if you could learn to hear others walking on the hard, human made walking stones then you could certainly hear a noisy one in a crunchy crinkly ground of the park. There were many similarities between the lives of Morningdew and Shie but also many differences. Although in the city there were no clans there were gangs, possibly just another city word for clan. Although the clans sounded more permanent, in the city, at the end of the day it was everyone for him or herself. The kindnes of Mornigdew surprised Shie. No one in the city would offer an act of kindnes without expecting something in return. Shie decided she would stay wary of the chance that Morningdew may ask her to do something but be grateful anyways. "Thank you very much Morningdew I... don't really know what to say i guess."

Morningdew shrugged as much as a cat could, "It's no matter. COme along, and stay wary. We will be along Riverclan's borders, and they have been a bit hostile lately. I'm guessing they have a few queens kitting soon." She turned and sauntered away, Brownpaw frolicking around Shie. "I'm gonna be a warrior someday!" He said happily, brown tail whipping about with joy. "Then I can fight with wolverines and be on patrols and fight with the other clans and do fun stuff!" He babbled on, still jumping about. "Brownpaw, stop being annoying." Morningdew growled, her tail twitching hard.

Strongjaw sighed in relief, mostly of the fact that he wasn't going to be killed. Yet. But he shook his head and sauntered behind the cat. Well, he limped behind the cat.

Shie followed Morningdew, grateful that the she was so generous. That kind of generosity would get a street cat killed. this made her assume that life here must be an awful lot easier. But not for me! I might have died if I stayed a couple more days here. Much better to stay in the place you know. She was absorbed in her thoughts but politely paid attention to Brownpaw until he was told to shut up. What I need, she thought suddenly, is to pay attention to how they survive here. If I learn, then I would be able to live here. Her mind was in conflict. Stay here, or go back to the city. Stay here, where she did not know how to survive, or back to where she could live. Back to the streets, and the humans. The dogs, and the kids throwing rocks at her. back to, occasionally, eating what the humans threw away and back to Duster. Her heart wanted to stay in this giant forest where, as her heart told her, everything was perfect if you could figure out how to live. Her mind told her that staying would be stupid. "Is it hard here, Morningdew? I mean I see there are dogs here, but there are no humans, two legs, here right? They don't try to catch you or poison you becuase they are in the city right?" She asked, feeling very foolish, like, she knew nothing about the world.

"Mm. Two-legs trespass from time to time. And they do lay out traps near the farms as well. These, humans you say, bring their dogs out. And wolves are rare. We typically deal with coyotes and foxes from the canine family." Morningdew said, ears alert. Brownpaw dashed around wildly, chasing everything that moved. He caught the eye of Morningdew, and instantly he walked beside Shie, ears down. "She doesn't approve of me." He said secretively, "I'm not sure I'm gonna be a good warrior because I get so distracted. And Morningdew never lets me play or have fun while I'm on duty. But I am gonna try to be! I wanna be the best warrior ever. Maybe even make it to clan leader! And I can't wait until my first trip to Fourtrees for a meeting. When all four clans come together! Oh, it'll be so much fun! Can I see your teeth? I bet they are bigger than mine. My adult teeth haven't grown in yet. I still have milk teeth. Morningdew says that if I stay focused and keep practicing, I can fight coyotes! But that'll be MONTHS from now. And Morningdew says that at the rate I am learning, I won't be made a warrior for years! But I can hunt pretty good. Us Windclan cats are the best of all the clans because we have to hunt in the open. Only the edges of our land have trees. Thunderclan is entirely in the trees. So is Shadowclan. Even Riverclan has more trees than us! And our den is situated on top of a big hill called a knoll. It gets really windy. I told Blackface- she's a queen that just kitted a few days ago- I told her she better hold onto her kittens or the wind'll take 'em away! Haha!" Brownpaw babbled quickly, still in his soft tone. Morningdew rolled her eyes. She couldn't make out half of what the kitten was saying because he was behind her and talking rather quietly, but she did hear his endless stream of words. "Brownpaw, don't annoy her." The fae warrior snapped. "See? I toldja. She always yells at me." He drooped sadly.
