"Oh, I ent been up to much. Wanderin' from town to town and making a living by singing, telling stories, and doing overall good deeds." Marrok smiled, closing his eyes peacefully. Behind that smile hid a grimace; Marrok's heart was throbbing painfully again. He took a deep breath and held it for a moment, willing the sharp pain away. Within a few moments, ti passed, the peaceful expression never changing on Marrok's face. His grey eyes slid open, "I stay outta wars and fights and all. Took up an apprenticeship in an apothecary and worked under a midwife there. Guess you can say I went from taking lives to saving them." Marrok felt his heart twitching again, struggling in it's internal fight, but it passed once again. Ithorec nibbled at his hair affectionately; Marrok had long since discovered the bird could detect his heart flutters. "It seems your little lady is cooking up something delicious again. I guess after dinner, while you two are out doing your warrior thing, I'm gonna go do my bard thing." Marrok walked around the table to his initial spot, and Ithorec perched on his leather pad while Marrok sat down, tracing the grain in the wood of the table.

"Mm, I've tried staying from battles, but unfortunately, I still have my oaths to the kingdom, and I'm too proud a man to break them. I have been to three battles only in the past seventeen years. I can't help but feel hate and loathing when I see the king and the rest of the damn court." Garis kept his voice low, trying not to break out in angry hysterics. He couldn't help but notice though the way that his eyes hurt behind. "But that is always the past."

"I can't imagine the party the court would throw if they found me. If they knew I still wandered around, alive. I let all those bastards believe I died in the last battle. Hah." Marrok laughed scornfully, his mind turning to the dangerous weaponry concealed at this very moment up in his room. "The past is always chasing us, my friend. Never get so confident as to think you have outrun it." Marrok said quietly, reaching a hand back to rub Ithorec's beak. "But you always were the true warrior. You and Bernt coulda fought all the battles single handedly if you had to." He laughed lightly, turning the mood in the room from it's dark path back onto a lighthearted one.

Minna kept on cooking. She didn't comment during their talk, she was too deep in thought. Was the war really that bad? Would she end up with so much hate in her life, that it would haunt her until her death bed? She froze for a second, and then moved. She would have to go before the courts and talk. She would have to prove to them that a woman could in fact commit to war. A sudden anger rose in her. Why couldn't a woman fight? If anything, a woman could endure much more physical pain; Minna knew for a fact that woman were better for planning. A woman could do almost anything that a man could do...Except earn respect from the court. She slammed the pot of water down for tea harder than she intended. She jumped at the sound, and then apologized. "I'm sorry, I was deep in thought, didn't notice...Uh...I apologize." Dinner was almost done. It's amazing how fast a woman could do her chores while so deep in thought. She quickly walked out of the room and stepped outside. She found the rain barrel and dipped her hands in it, rinsing them. She dried them off on her dress and walked inside. She dished out the food and set the tea out. She sat down and started to eat. She was silent, still in thought. She remembered Garis talking to her, but what did he say? "Um...Garis, what did you say earlier? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention." She waited for the gentlemen to start eating. It was a bad habit of hers, living as a surf. She was trying to break the habits she was raised with. Do what she was told with out question, obey every command, do not look anyone in the eye, do your duties calmly and respectfully. It was a habit that would die hard, although she was very eager to do so. She sighed, no longer hungry. She didn’t even remember what she made so she looked at her plate. A thick stew with deer meat, potatoes, onions, and carrots. It was sitting in brown gravy and the tea was Very Berry Tea. It helped with signs of aging, it was high in vitamin C, and helped ones vision. It was one thing that her mother encouraged her to make every day with at least one meal.

Marrok watched Minna with a stare nearly as intense as the falcon behind him could give, but it was harmless. How he wished he could see into the young girl's thoughts and try to ease whatever troubled her. Instead, the man folded his hands over each other and said, "Thanks again, God, for providing me with another meal and shelter for the night." He picked up a glass of the tea and sniffed it, a wide grin breaking out on his naturally happy face moments later. "Very Berry Tea! High in vitamins and necessary nutrients while slowing many signs of aging, not to mention it is very flavorful and sweet. Goes well with honey." He sipped it, savoring the sweet flavor that was so unlike most teas. Setting it down rather reluctantly, he picked up a fork and dug into the stew with the same level of enthusiasm he'd had with the tea. "You are amazing in a kitchen." Marrok said, offering a piece of meat to Ithorec, who took it with few qualms. He didn't care for cooked meat, and flavors were lost on him. It was, simply, food and the falcon could not understand why his master could get so worked up over it. It wasn't like they were starving or anything. Marrok realized that the meat was wasted on the bird and scowled at him, "Go catch a bloody rat, then, you overgrown sparrow." He ate more, the petulant air that had formed around him dissipating. "Anyway, Miss Minna, we had been discussing your need of armor and other such things. That is where Good Garis will be hauling you off to. I'm afraid I won't join you in the shopping trip, though. I am a bard, and I must do what my heart calls for me to do." Even a broken, dying heart such as mine. Marrok added as a thought to himself, his smile never changing. Part of being a bard and an amazing storyteller was to be your story, whether it be truth or fallacy.

((I have to be off to school, so i'll reply with a post later. I am a wicca, and I believe that herbs are better than meds. I make the stuff every now and then, it has orange peels, blue berries, it is very good, and it does go well with honey (Fall Flower Honey, anyways). It's very good, and I have a cup of it every morning before school. It sometimes stains your teeth blue. >.< That's the only downfall.))

Minna smiled as he commented on the tea. "My mother used to make it all the time, I guess it's jut a habit to make it every day. I am glad you like it. As for working in the kitchen, that used to be my job, I would cook for the knight and his family and friends." She stared off in the distnace for a moment, remembering the old kitchen. She looked up and smiled, then ate for a little bit. She looked at Garis and nodded a thanks. "I have been meaning to get new clothes, I just havn't the money or time." Deep inside she felt happy; she was able to smile, aside from the females-can't-fight ordeal.

Garis couldn't help but feel that there was something more to Minna's distracted straring and her slamming the pot. "I never do think that we can outrun the past, for it seems to go the same pace as the present. Besides, if Bernt and I could have fought the battles singlehandedly..." Garis didn't want to finish the sentence. "The tea is delicious, and as I said, I will make something special tomorrow, so you don't have to. I'll pick stuff up while we're out. And as for new clothes, we can pick some up while we're out. Being a knight does, fortunately, have it's money perks. But you wouldn't have seen me at any meals with the court. And now that you're not buy all the time anymore, you'll have plenty of time. Oh, and where's that dog at, you'll probably want to feed him before he starves." He turned to Marrok. "And are you sure you don't want to be at the court after Minna's training? You will want to see the look on the "noble knights and ladies" faces." Garis chuckled. "Shock. Anger. Minna, just don't be surprised if they don't take you seriously." His tone was serious now. "But after your training is finished, you'll know how to make them take you seriously, after a few random dissapearances and maybe a death or two." His voice was serious and grim.

Minna looked up at him, listening to every word he spoke. Her eyes were intent, her mind was racing with different ideas and theorys. "I can cook, Garis, it's not an issue. I enjoy it." She smiled at him, then continued to listen. She finished eatting in a matter of minuites. She got a small bowl of bones and scrap meat and fat from the deer and raced outside. She set it down and watched as her dog ate it quickly. She went back inside into the kitchen and cleaned up. She worked fast, thanks to her up brining as a surf. "When do you plan on heading to town?" She Cleared the dishes that were clear off from the table and put them into a pile on the bench in the corner. She froze, now noticing that she would be before the courts, before the nobles and the king and queen. She looked at Garis as he spoke more about killing a few people. She stared at him, unsure of what to say or do. "I...I know the courts will, will hinder on thinking if I am worth to fight, but...Must I murder people? I plan on going to war and killing there, not on the peacful streets of the city." She held the pot in her hands, not moving from her spot.

"My dear, they will not only hinder their thinking you can fight, they will laugh at the idea. You are a seventeen year old female serf. You wish to wage war upon the king? What army? And no, I am not asking you to murder, and it will not be on the streets. You forget that I wish to fight this war just as much as you, I simply have a reason now. No, leave the stealth to me. I may have been Titan, but I know how to make my way around silently. As for the army..." he let the sentence trail, but allowed an idea to form in his head. He needed to call upon some friends of his, from the years past. Many of them were screwed just as he and Minna, they would probably be willing to help. But the number of men he needed was thousands, not a handful. "We'll leave now. I...There are some things I have to do later." Garis stood and went upstairs. He changed from his work clothes to something presentable. He laced his leather boots up and returned downstairs. "Come on, Minna. Marrok...well, just don't get killed while we're out."

Minna quickly ran upstair as well and changed into the dress she had come in. It was close to being in ruins, but it was better than what she had on now. She straighted out her hair and put on her better boots, still just as worn as her dress. She went downstairs and waited for Garis. Her stomach hurt now, she also had a headache. Maybe she hadn't planned this out enough? What was she really getting into? She brushed the thoughts aside, awaiting for their trip into town.

"Come on." Garis said. He tried to lighten his mood, but it wasn't going very well. His thoughts of what were to happen were too grim. He led Minna outside and along the main road. His first stop was the armorer's. He walked inside, the burly man behind an anvil looked up at him. "Ah, Garis." He said, returning to hammering out a piece of steel. "What brings you here?" "I need some armor for my apprentice." Garis told him. The man stopped and looked at Minna. "She's your apprentice? Or have you finally taken to having mistresses and concubines? I wouldn't doubt it." He returned to his work again. "No, Alec, she is my apprentice and a damn good one at that. You will respect her, do you understand?" "Is that an order from the legendary commander?" "Consider it one." "Fine. My apologies, madam. So you need some armor. Well, let me get the size of you. Shoulder, breast, back, upper, bracer, greave, thigh, shin?" He asked Garis. "Yes, the whole lot." "A tall order. You still got that much money left? I'm surprised." "They didn't take everything from me. Just my honor." "Well, looks like they got the best of us, eh?" "All of us." "Bernt was a good man, too bad he's dead. If he were around I wouldn't be here." "If he were around, she wouldn't either." Garis said. Alec stopped, his tape measure wrapped around Minna's shoulder. "How so?" "This here's Bernt's girl." "Oh!" Alec skittered back, his tape measure falling to the floor. "My-my apologies, my princess."

Minna gave a slight nod. "It's okay, I assure you." She looked at Garis, slightly unsure. Then it hit her. Princess. The royal blood line. She looked back at Alec. "You did not know, it's all forgiven." She gave him a smile. It would take a long while before she got used to this. She stood tall, awaiting for the measuring to continue.
((I'll bring in a new character tomorrow...I'm exhausted right now, I can't do it...))

"Well, if you're sure." he said. He recovered his tape measure and took measurements of about everything. He wrote them down in a notebook and when he was done he set the notebook by his anvil. "What d'you want?" "Steel. Thin shoulders, not broad. And give it a red inlay, why don't you." Alec nodded. "Red armor, befitting her father. Alright, I'll have it done in two days' time." Garis nodded. "Alright Minna, next stop, tailor."
