Minna grinned as she looked down at her food. She had almost finished her share. She quickly finished and put her plates on a nearby bench. "I'll do the dishes later, Garis." She excused herself and ran upstiars. She combed her hair and washed her face and hands. She dusted off her boots. She looked around the room, still amazed that she had her own room. She sat on her bed and looked out the window. "Oh ma, I wish you were here." She looked to the floor, holding back tears. She shook her head then went down the stairs again.

"Bernt could be a pompous and arrogant fool, but yes, he was a great man." He sipped his lemonade, finishing it off. Marrok stood and began to gather items off the table, "No worries, I will deal with the dishes this time." He smiled, recalling Minn carrying clean dishes back into the house when he first saw her. "Begin your training, I will join you in time." He gathered up the dirty dishes and placed them into a sack as well, waiting for the other two to finish so he could take their things as well.

Garis shrugged. "You don't have to do dishes. Come, give it to me. You are the guest here, and Minna's pre-training won't involve me much anyways." Garis took the sack from Marrok and placed his own dishes inside. "Make yourself at home. Maybe you can go check out your room. If you need anything I'll be down at the river." He placed Minna's finished dishes in the sack and waited for her to come back down the stairs. "Come, Minna, your training will start down at the river." He nodded to Marrok and continued out the back door.

"Suit yourself." Marrok shrugged, then went exploring. The young man went up into his room, pleased at the size of Garis's home. It looked smaller from the outside, but it was giant inside. Beat Marrok's place back in his hometown. Marrok started going through the saddlebags, putting things away since he figured he'd be here a while. Instruments galore were a part of his bundles, as well as some dried foods and herbs. Marrok set those asde to take downstairs. He pulled out a leather-bound notebook with all of his writing in it. He had four of the same type, one of which was already full of his scribbles. He ran a long finger along the spine of his current, half-filled book, relishing all the things within- music lyrics, ballads, tales, journal entries. You name it, he wrote it in here. He stacked those on a shelf neatly. His bow and quiver went in the corner while his short sword stayed at his hip- better safe than sorry. Unpacking finished, the man wandered through the house some more, easily I dentifying Garis's and Minna's rooms. The weapons room interested him immensely. but Marrok didn't stick in it long- he had his trusted weapons. Marrok went downstairs again, amused at Ithorec, who was bopping around on the floor. Chasing a mouse, most likely. Marrok took the leather pad and strapped it back onto his shoulder. The falcom came to him immediately, and the pair went out back and into the stables. From there the bird landed up on a stable door while Marrok hummed and began to clean the stables. Horse snorted amiably to the man, who waved back, but continued his work.

Minna sprinted to follow Garis. She smiled at him. "What are we starting with?" Her eyes were bright with excitment, her smile was full with pride. Her heart thundered in her chest as she thought about what was to happen.
(sorry, writers block!)

((eh, that's all I needed anyhoo))
"Exactly that." Garis said. "Running." He waited until they got down to the river. "All right, see that path there?" He pointed to the path leading to his right. "Run along there until you get to a bridge, cross the bridge and you'll come to the forest. Follw the path through the forest only taking left turns, and you'll cross another bridge and end up here." He pointed to the path on his left side. "We'll start you off running for about a week or so. And don't complain. When I had to do my training, I ran for twelve hours a day, seven days a week, for two months. Now, be off with ya." He kneeled down and began on the dishes.

OOC: My Microsoft isn't working, so sorry for spelling mistakes and such... >.<
Minna stared at him for a few seconds, before looking at the path. How long would this take? She took a deep breath and started off with a gentle sprint. The green of the woods was beautiful, as was the sounds of the birds singing and the river bubbling over the rocks. Before she knew it, there was a left turn. She slowed to a walk for about ten seconds, before running faster. She could feel her chest; it ws on fire, her legs were screaming for a break, her shoulders hurt as well. The path seemed to stretch on forever before another left turn. She accepted the turn, and saw the bridge ahead. She stopped before it, and went to the river under it. She scooped up some of the cold water in her hands and took a sip of it. She did this sevrel times, before getting back on the path. No words could explain how her chest felt. It sounded like there were indian drums in her ears, pounding like a war dance. She continued with a gentle jog. She saw the last left turn. she pushed herself to a full-out sprint. She made it back to the river and collapsed onto the cool grass. Her skin was shiney with sweat, her limbs throbbed and tingled like she had just walked through a pricker bush. She slowly sat up and drank more of the water from the river. "G...Garis, how did you manage?" her breathing was raspy and loud.

Garis was crouched beside the river. He had long finished the dishes and taken them up to the house and come back. “Dear, I didn’t manage, not for a while. It hurts. It will for a while. But trust me, it gets better. The more you run the less it hurts.” The sun was about to dip behind the trees of the forest on the other side of the river. “Come. Don’t lie down like that for too long, or else you’ll cramp up. Come on, you can have a bath.” He stood and extended a hand out for her.

Marrok worked hard throughout the afternoon by mucking out stables, putting fresh straw down, brushing all the horses in the stable, cleaning out their hooves, making sure their shoes were on securely, then cleaning anything else that needed cleaned in the stable. All the while he hummed or sang different songs, a big smile on his face. When he had finished, he clambered up onto the roof rather gracefully to check the thatching. All was well, as he had guessed. With nothing better to do, Marrok layed back on the roof, Ithorec perched beside him. A barn cat, it's narrowed, feral eyes glaring, hissed at Marrok's swinging feet spitefully. The large, orange body arched as Marrok sat up with a blink, gazing down at the cat. "Peace, creature. I mean you no harm. I understand this is your territory. I do not wish to steal your food." He spoke softly, never letting his gaze waver. Slowly the cat relaxed, then wandered back into the barn to hunt with an idle flick of it's tail. Ithorec ruffled his feathers and clacked his beak, staring off into the setting sun. "Haha, no, you can't eat the cat, you goof. There'd be a rat infestation." marrok laughed, laying back down. Ithorec clacked his beak again and added a soft squeak in his throat. "There are plenty of rats for the both of ye. Hush now." Marrok stroked the large bird's feathers, humming again quietly as the sun slid slowly into the trees. Finally Marrok opened his mouth and sang the lyrics he'd been humming, his voice strong, but low as it wavered through the sad notes. "Tell me what the rain knows, O are these the Tears of Ages, That wash away the Wolf's Way, And leave not a trace of the day?
Tell me what the rain knows, O is this the flood of fortune, That pours itself upon me? O see how I drown in this sea.
Hark, hear the howl that eats the moon alive. Your fur is on fire, The smoke turns the whole sky raven black, And the world upon your back will crack!
Where will you go, Now you've no home?
Let the rain wash away... your last days..."

Minna accepted his hand and stood up, trembling. "I think I...I'll have to invest in trousers if I am to run again...Skirts are no good." She laughed as she tried to walk. Her legs wobbled some, but she managed to walk. "So how long will I be running?" She let a grin slide onto her face as she heard Marrok sing. he had a magical voice. The wind made it carry light, and gentle.

"Hmm. That's what I wanted to do today. I want to take you into the town and get you some clothes and some armor. I'll let you get your legs back and then we'll go." Garis heard Marrok, he loved his voice and he missed it after all those years.

Minna noded and walked in the direction of the musical sound. Her legs were starting to return to normal, but not as quick as she'd like. At least they were not cramping up as much.

Ithorec screeched softly, head turning in the direction of the river. "What's that you say?" Marrok asked the bird, sitting up. "Ah, the valiant return!" He stroked the bird's feather's, then jumped off the roof, landing in a crouched position with one hand on the ground. He stood up with a stretch, glanced at his cloak hanging in the stables, and decided it was too hot to wear it anyway. The young man stuck a hand in his trousers pocket (legs of which rolled up while he had been working and were still currently exposing his hairy man legs up to his knee) and scratched the back of his head with the other, watching the pair approach. "Welcome home!" He called, waving with the hand not in his pocket whilst walking towards them. "I trust you had a pleasant jog?" Marrok asked Minna with a wink. Ithorec glided down in a flutter of red and brown feathers, perching on Marrok's shoulder with a warble.

Minna slightly blushed at the wink, and then smiled. “Good Marrok, I am still deciding whether it was good or not.” She looked up at Garis and smirked. Before any more conversation could be said, she walked into the house and headed upstairs. She pulled out a second dress, one of less standard. It was a simple brown, with few layers to it. It was one she had made for days when she was taking her turn cooking. It had many stains in it, a few singed areas, and was battered pretty well. She only had two outfits, which was it. It was one more than her own mother had. She smoothed her hair and walked downstairs again, and started to prepare dinner; food fit for…well…good company.

Garis waited for Minna and instead talked to Marrok. "So what have you been up to these past years? It's been a while, you know?" When Minna came downstairs, he sat down and watched her prepare the food. "You know, not that I don't love your food, but you don't have to prepare every meal for us. I did make food for myself for forty years. How about tomorrow, since I had you run so much to begin with, I'll make you something special. And after dinner, I'm taking you to the tailor and the armorer, then it's to the blacksmith."
