Garis' ears perked back and his head almost spun off of his shoulders. That voice, that song. No, there was absolutely no way. First Bernt's daughter, now... no, it was impossible. Garis stood rushed out the door and took the stairs two at a time. He ran to the front window. He knew the man's voice long before he saw his face. "No fracking way." he said. He opened the door and stood facing the man. "Well, I'll be damned. Minna, meet Marrok."

Minna froze as she saw him. She took a step back, unsure of this. She had never been confronted by a stranger; the dog growled some, lowering to the ground. The scruff of her coat stood on end; her ivory fangs were showing and her stance was almost frightful. She resembled a wolf with the deep worry and anger presented in her eyes.
Minna heard Garis and spun around. She turned back around, confused. She looked at Garis again. "You know this man?" She looked back at Marrok. She gave a slight bow, keeping her eyes on the ground. Something she was used to doing back....at her old home. The dog didn't stop growling, she shifted her weight, relaxing some now that Garis was there. She kept her icy eyes locked on him, a soft rumble still escaping her dense chest.

Marrok pulled his hand back quickly from the dog, not showing or feeling any fear, but rather removing an appendage he'd rather not have viciously removed. Besides, an offered hand to a strange dog was often perceived as a threat. Marrok felt confused for a moment, not sure as how to react to the growling dog, the unsure girl, and his old friend. "Garis!" Marrok decided quickly, clapping a hand to the mans shoulder. Garis was easily twice the size of Marrok; the bard resembled more of a ferret while the warrior took more likeness to a mammoth, tusks and all. "Sorry to startle you miss Minna and dog. No need to bow, no, certainly not." He scratched the back of his head, a nervous grin on his face. He had a fondness for animals and really didn't want to pull a sword on the pretty girl if she decided to attack. "Well, old friend, I'm sure you remember Horse, there." He motioned to the roan, who snorted and looked away in his typical way, "See? Hasn't changed a bit." Marrok smiled, patting the old horse's neck. "This here," He pointed to Ithorec on his shoulder, "Is my newest, though not so new, buddy. Ithorec. Saved the little guy as a chick. Hand fed 'im and raised 'im. See your starting your own collection of friends, no?" The man laughed lightly. Very little dampened his spirits, and certainly a growling dog wasn't about to deter him. "Anyway,I'm lookin' for a bite to eat. Wonderin' if you know a place that's good and cheap." He scratched the back of his head again, sandy-colored hair flinging about wildly.

Minna reached down and placed it on Batu's back. Batu slowly stopped growling but still kept an eye on the strange man. Her head lowered and her ice blue eyes were deep with emotion.
Minna looked at him. "Sir, where I come from it was mandatory that someone above my status was to be bowed to. I was a surf, as was my...my, uh...Mother." She watched him point out his horse and the falcon. She walked around to the horse and put her hand forward with a small apple in it. She had found it while doing the dishes.

"I see. It is of no matter. But chances are high that I am not above your status." Marrok shrugged lightly, watching Horse and Minna closely. Horse turned his brown eyes slowly in Minna's direction, then his whole head. He glanced between her face and the apple, flicking his tail slightly. After a moments consideration, his head came forward slowly with a whicker and took the apple gently from her palm. Munching it slowly, the whole body language of the roan suggested arrogant smugness. Ithorec ruffled his feathers and chastised Horse severely. "Rare. Horse usually doesn't like anyone." Marrok said ponderously.

"Yes, I remember Horse. Good horse, that. And hello there, Ithorec." Garis patted Horse's neck. "If you need a place to stay, please, I would love it if you stayed with us. I've got an extra bedroom upstairs, and food is free. I was about to start Minna's training." He looked at the man again. "It's good to see you again. Haven't seen you since the battle, I believe."

Marrok paled slightly at the mention of the battle, "No, I s'pose not. I went home after that bloody mess, then turned to a nomadic life." He removed his gear from Horse's back, then removed the halter. "Git on, you. I'm sure you can find the stable yourself. 20 years of life, you better be able to." With difficulty due to the stuff in his arms, Marrok stroked the old roan's neck affectionately as it nickered and turned away, wandering into the back and towards the stable. "Such a dependable creature." Marrok smiled, "Go on, Ithorec. Hunt to your delight and stay in the stables with 'im." The falcon screeched angrily and nipped Marrok's hair with his sharp beak. "Well, fine then. Be that way. But if you make a mess in Garis's house, I will be making dinner and you'll be on the menu." The falcon ruffled his feathers more, but steadfastly refused to leave his perch. "Alright. Lead the way." The man said brightly, readjusting all of the things in his arms.

"Hell, I should have, but it's hard to fit nine dozen weapons in a trunk and haul 'em around the country." Garis said. "Oh, I don't mind him in the house. Minna brought a dog home, so looks like I have plenty of company now." He smiled. "Come, inside. Come Minna, here's a good man, Marrok. Saved my life, he did. Here, let me help you with that." He reached to take the entire load from Marrok's arms.

Minna smiled at them. She couldn't help but feel warm. She watched Garis and Marrok converse some before entering the house. She entered behind them and chuckled as Batu barked happily. Minna quickly went to the kitchen and prepared some lunch for everyone. In the one pan she put some deer meet and cooked it, with a side of bread and cold lemonade. She prepared some greens as well and put mint leafs in the lemonade. She set the table for the three, as well as a small piece for Batu and Ithorec. She waited next to the door for them to enter.

"Oh, thanks!" Marrok said, handing Garis the load, "You always were the muscle of the troop." He wandered into the house, a peaceful and happy look on his face, like always. He politely untied his cloak at the entryway and took it off, as well as taking off his boots- who knew what had gotten onto them during his travels! "Nice place ya got here. Oh, I smell something amazing!" Marrok practically drooled, peeking into the kitchen at Minna, eyes bright. He pulled back into the main room, looking over everything as he began to untie the leather pad. Ithorec obligingly took to the air while Marrok put the leather on a chair back so the falcon could land there without damaging anything. "So you mentioned something about training." Marrok called after Gairs as he watched Minna enter with the food, looking immensely pleased with the meal, "Which means you must be one of those awesome women that want to go out and kick some butt on a battlefield, neh?" He laughed lightly, "Kudos. I back you up entirely. In my opinion, anyone that can squeeze a baby out of their bodies is perfectly capable of swinging a sword in battle. In many ways, the woman is strong than the man. I mean, I have yet to meet a man that could make such a wonderful looking lunch!" He sat down gracefully in the spot under Ithorec and folded his hands politely before him as he waited for the other two to join him.

"I know, didn't that earn me the nickname, oh what was it? Oh, right, the Titan." he smiled. Garis hauled Marrok's things upstairs on the second floor to his spare bedroom, setting everything on the large bed. On the way down he heard Marrok talking to Minna. "Yes, she's a strong one, that lass. And yes, I am going to train her to fight, she's already found a sword and everything." He sat down at a spot at the table. "Thanks for making lunch, Minna, smells great."

Minna smiled and nodded. "It was my pleasure." She sat at the table and started to eat. She eyed Marrok for a few moments before returning to her lunch. "I plan to avenge my father who was killed in this God-forsaken war. Perhaps you know my father, Bernt was his name." She looked up at him, her eye dead set and very serious. She was going to avenge him one way or another. She would make sure her family name was no longer ruined by the fields they grew and the sweat on their backs, but returned to the thrown and no longer in hiding.

As everyone took their seats at the table, Marrok said softly to himself, "Thank you, God, for one more day and a great meal!" Then proceeded to eat, enjoying every bite. As Minna mentioned the name Bernt, Marrok set down his fork and considered the name for a moment. "Bernt... Yes, I recall him. Big man, strong fighter. I rarely fought with him, though. Not my section so much. He outclassed me." He winked to Minna, "Which, if blood has anything to do with anything, you'll be just as great as him." He took a few more bites, then raised his head again, "Sounds like things could get interesting around here. Mind if I hold off on my nomadic life and stick around for a while? I'd definitely be interested in watching your training, Miss Minna. Or, should I say, Lady in Waiting." He smiled a soft, mysterious smile, then returned once more to his meal. "This is great, by the way." And instantly he was back to his normal, cheerful self, the mysterious air around him dissipating as quickly as it had come.

Minna watched him, and took another bite of the food. It was done rather well. "I don't mind if you watch me train, but you will have to take that matter up with the master of the house hold." For a moment she felt odd, being around him, then back to normal. It was odd, hearing these people talk about her father that she had never known. He really must have been a great warrior for all these people to know about him. She couldn't help but blush at the thought.

Garis simply listened to the conversation intently. "Bernt was a great man." He ate a bit more. "Yes, I'd be delighted if you would stick around and watch Minna's training. Your things are already up in your room, make yourself at home. You could even teach Minna a few of the more graceful parts of battle, some of the things that I couldn't teach her."
