We had a gun threat at our school - granted, our neighborhood isn't exactly known for the vast amounts of gun owners (buuuuut the city itself is constantly getting reports of gang-related shootings -shrug- They make TV shows out of it ) Annnyway, the security at our school was impeccable that day. I'm not sure we got city police in, but there was an overabundance of school police, and the deans were everywhere. I didn't have much of a choice for going to school, my parents are big "rain, shine, sickness, health, you're going to school/work/class!!" people. Fantastic stuff. Mom told us when she dropped us off "If a guy starts shooting, pretend your dead already." (Fun stuff; it's a great way to start off the school day). Annnyway, I'd go, but that's because I thrive in a school setting. And I love a little excitement. And now that I think about it - if everyone in your neighborhood has a gun, there might be someone there who decides to bring their gun in case a malicious kid decides to, you know, shoot. Which would be a bad thing if your school decides to start checking bags that day.

Hi all! I got a little tale to tell about my day today. As you all should know by now, I work at an animal shelter. So Fridays, I'm working a 7-6 shift- very exhausting, btw. This morning, one of our problem dogs got overexcited at feeding time and slammed into me, effectively ripping off the skin of my knuckle. Later, while I was cleaning, I had our black German Shepard, appropriately named Giant, tied up so I could get his kennel. He went into play position when i came near him (Mind you I already had a good relationship with him prior) so I went over and ruffled his head. He barked and bounced playfully back, then jumped p and latched his powerful teeth into my hand. Hard. I smacked him off, scolded him, and carried about my work, knowing that I should report him for such a vicious attack. But I didn't. I chose instead to take him outside to work on his behaviour. So a friend and I took out Giant and Missy (The pair get along wonderfully) and another friend joined us with Andy (pitbull mix, sweet as pie). While out there, I commented that Giant knew German, and April said the German word for sit at him. (Plotz, if you cared to know). Instead of sitting, he freaked out and lunged at her, but I pulled him back and sat on him, yelling at him until I had him back under control. April and Missy backed away a bit, and I rejoined her a few minutes later. Giant lunged at her again (For no reason this time except for spite) and I pulled him back again, but as I tried to get him under control, he turned and lunged at me, aimed for my throat. Long story short (The details get sketchy, everything happened so fast), I nearly died today in the jaws of a German Shepard, but instead managed to get away with a lot of bruises. We ended up having to release Giant for a moment, his attacks had gotten so vicious. The second he was free, he attacked Andy, but we regained control of the situation before anyone besides me got hurt. It was scary shit, and I admit after going back in the building and putting Giant back into one of the holding rooms where the public doesn't go, I sat down and shook. It took me almost all day to get my nerves back under control. Hyyuuu~

i would love to help around an animal shelter, but i am afraid of attacks like that, your effectivly scaring me away from the shelters j/k , this wont change my opinion, i hope ya get better and I hope that giant either calms down or someone forces him into a calm state of mind, im not one for killing animals but if he keeps thta up he needs to be put down...

He's the cutest thing! This morning I picked him up to hold, he climbed over my hand, under the blankets and right next to my leg. I reached my hand down and started to scratch gently behind his ear, he started doing that purring thing they do! Buddy Tittles...<3
