Kale started to eat the offered marmot. Hunter lived up to his name. Bandit, he found Bandit's innocent generousity cute. He finished the whole thing and felt much stronger. He cleaned himself off while listening to Chihir, his ears perking to listen to Squirrel. Squirrel was telling him what he already assumed. He just wanted to follow along for a while, at least until he was fully healed. He most certainly didn't want to intrude and being talked to made him nervous, like he was doing something wrong. "So what exactly is life as normal?" He inquired, wondering what life as normal to him was. "If you don't mind." He added hastilly.

Chihir yawned, having finished bathing. "Normal for us is travelling around and helping others that are hurt or in trouble. We have a wolf friend, Arrow, that maybe you will get to meet. He's very shy, but helpful in our exploits." He glanced around at his friends, taking note that they were all ready to go. Hunter had buried the leftovers just in case they were around here again soon. "We leave when you are ready, Kale. We don't want to push you too hard after your ordeal." Squirrel said in his soft voice. Chihir stood and began to smell the air, determining which way they should go.

Kale stood. It hurt but he could walk. His paws weren't bleeding anymore which was a good sign. He wanted to move on though. "I can walk." He said, holding in a whimper, he was stronger than that. "I think we might have to take it slow, though" He added skittishly. He had no no problem with a wolf joining. especially if it was shy as he was feeling.

Chihir inclined his head at Kale, "Alright. Move out!" He barked, heading north. Bandit made a strange quacking noise and leapt after Chi, tail wagging enthusiastically. Squirrel rolled his eyes and decided he would walk next to Kale. Hunter held the back, trudging along silently, eyes emotionless.
Chihir kept the pace slow, instead of the typical lope he decided to simply walk. Ears alert, the fox was prepared for any form of danger.
Well, almost any.
A deafening roar split the air followed by a squeal of pain. Chihir scented the air again, then growled. "Bear. Most likely a young male grizzly." He turned in the direction the sounds had come from, picking up the pace to a lope. He crouched down in the brush, watching and deciding the best plan. On the other side of the brush from the foxes, a bear had a small, runt sized wolf trapped against a rock formation. The wolf was whimpering as blood ran from a wound on his shoulder. "Arrow!" Chi hissed. "Squirrel. We need a plan. NOW." Squirrel gazed at the bear for a moment, his eyes calculating. "With all of us out there at once, it should become intimidated and run. If it doesn't, Hunter can give it a good chomp and that should scare it away. Hunter scares everything away." The black fox snorted, but said nothing about Squirrel's words. "Sounds good. Any objections or other ideas?"

Kale was scared to go out there to face the bear. He wouldn't let it show, though, becuase he realized that he had to help the ones who helped him. He was sure they wouldn't hold it against him but he also felt it was the right thing to do. So he would follow them out into danger and not regret it. He thought hard for other ideas though. Maybe, before deciding to get Hunter to chomp it if the group didn't work, maybe loud noises might. He held the idea in his head, just in case. He really didn't want to see Hunter, or any of them for that matter, get hurt.

Chihir burst out from the underbrush, Hunter beside him and Bandit behind. Squirrel, a fearful little animal, jumped out and ran behind Bandit. The bear was instantly distracted from Arrow and looked at the rag tag group of foxes before him. It dropped onto all four paws and roared viciously. Chihir barked back angrily, but the bear wasn't being swayed. As the bear took a step forward menacingly, Hunter leapt at it, digging his powerful canine teeth into the bear's elbow. The bear was daunted by this bold move and attempted to dislodged the black menace from his arm by shaking it. Naturally, this would do nothing in the way of removing Hunter, so the bear grabbed the fox's tail and pulled. Hard. Hunter instantly released, but quickly flicked his tail loose and went for the bear's throat with a snarl. Deciding this meal was too feisty, the bear raked Hunter's side with his powerful claws and removed the fox again, this time turning and running off.
Arrow let out a triumphant howl as Hunter retreated silently and flopped down to wash his blood off and clean the wound. Squirrel was instantly at his side with a whine to help, but Hunter batted him away. "It's superficial. Nothing."

Kale walked up to Hunter slowly. He looked the injured fox up and down, anylizing his wounds and his mood. He would be fine. He looked hunter in the eyes and said, "That was very brave." In a solemn tone and walked away slowly to meet Arrow. As he walked he wondered why the world seemed to always demand blood. He was still in a solemn mood and he also looked Arrow up and down to see how his injuries were. He figured Arrow would also be alright. Kales wounds on the other hand were almost all the way healed which surprised him. He could have swore that he had fractured bones in his paws and legs. That was another strange thing, he only thought so in hindsight just then. In the beggining he couldn't even tell you what a fractured bone was. Maybe he was regaining his memory!

Hunter had flattened his ears and glared at Kale as the fox approached him, but his stand-offish attitude relaxed slightly at the words Kale said. 'What a strange animal...' He thought idly, then resumed licking his wounds. Chihir and Arrow had been exchanging greetings as Kale approached. Arrow's change in demeanor was instantaneous. He lowered himself to the ground, ears against his scalp and tail tucked against his belly. He knew the fox would be of little harm to him, but the wolf was highly submissive and would always be the lowest in any pack or group. "Greetings!" Arrow said, rolling onto his back playfully to show he was no threat. Chihir laughed at Arrow's antics, who giggled in return, and said, "This is our good friend Arrow. Arrow, this is Kale. We're helping him find a trigger to get his memory back. Oh! That reminds me. Kale did you get any memories back from this experience?" Squirrel, hearing the word 'trigger', was instantly or there and listening intently. Bandit was sitting in a tree above Hunter and chattering down at the black fox like a monkey.

Kale watched Arrow's actions with interest. What on this green earth was the wolf doing? He lay down, finding it difficult to stand longer. Kale thought the answer out for a couple minutes before replying. "Well, I think memory has been leaking back all day. I seem to know about injuries and how to know if you have one." He said. "I think I might know how to fix things that got hurt." He added lamely. He was feeling a little light headed.

Squirrel barked happily, "Well that's an improvement!" Chihir sniffed his friends, then Kale. "That is an improvement. But I am afraid that due to the injuries sustained, we are going to have to find a place to stay for the evening. I don't want to further hurt the injuries. Bandit, come." Bandit leapt down from the tree and ran after Chihir into the trees. Hunter growled, unhappy about being left behind, but just sulked quietly against the rock instead. Arrow layed down beside Kale with a yawn. "So Kale, you dunno anything 'bout yourself? besides injuries and a name?" He turned his honey-colored eyes on the fox curiously, tongue lolling out of his mouth.

Kale caught Arrow's yawn and yawned widely himself. He felt that he could use some sleep. "No, I don't know anything." He yawned again and he nodded a little. His sudden need to sleep set off an alarm in his mind. What was going on? He shouldn't be too tired. His head hurt and he was tired. He fought it and found he could stay up longer but he certainly wouldn't be any use for the rest of the day. Maybe he had just over-exerted himself.

Chihir bounded back through the trees with a bark. "Hey guys! Stop sleeping around here. Me and Bandit dug out a nice den to sleep in. Come on!" He trotted away and Squirrel and Hunter got up and followed. Arrow stood stiffly, stretched, then looked down at the exhausted fox. With a shrug, he said, "I apologize for any offense this may bring." And stooped down and picked the fox up by the scruff so he wouldn't have to walk on his weary paws, then turned and followed the others into the trees. A good ways into the forest Arrow found the freshly dug den and set Kale down beside the hole. "Go on in. I can't carry you down- the hole is too small for us to both fit at the same time." He wagged his tail, happy he could help.

Kale let the wolf carry him. He appreciated the thought and wouldn't have been able to walk anyways. He just hoped he wouldn't be too much of a burden to Arrow. He found himself nodding to sleep again even though he was being carried. Kale smiled sleepily at Arrows eagerness and he went into the den. he then proceeded to get out of the entrance and fall straight to sleep.

Once again the foxes all cuddled together, this time with Arrow. Because the den was small, they were all touching one another in some way. As the sun rose, Hunter was first out of the den, as usual. Despite his injuries, he immediately set off to go hunting, and within the hour he brought back two rabbits, a marmot, and a badger he decided to brawl with, which gave him a new bite to add to his other wounds. With his job for the morning complete, Hunter went to a tree and layed down under it, eyes partially closed. Bandit stepped out of the den with a yawn, then scampered up a tree to watch the sun finish rising. Arrow, Chihir and Squirrel slept on.

Kale woke as Hunter left the den. He didn't want to get up though, he just wanted to be lazy. His head hurt very badly. He sat there wondering why he had fallen asleep so fast, it was more as if he had passed out. Kale suddenly became aware that he was touching them. He immediatly became embaressed and shy. He gathered his strength and left the den quietly afer Bandit. Kale found that even though there was food, he wasn't hungry. He stretched out and yawned deeply wondering what the group might be doing today.
